Dale Avenue & Heatherstone Way toward West Remington Drive

What’s changing

A study will compare trail alignments toward West Remington Drive and a proposed walking and biking bridge over Highway 85 near Mountain View High School.

• This project covers roughly 0.8 miles from the existing trail endpoint at Dale/Heatherstone to West Remington in Sunnyvale. Sunnyvale’s separate Remington-to-Fremont project is outside this project’s scope.
• The consultant will study alignments, prepare environmental documents, and support public outreach. A preferred concept would precede 35% design. No final trail alignment or construction start is established here.
• Council authorized a Sunnyvale funding agreement, acceptance of $600,000, and an $846,500 consultant agreement on May 26, 2026. The September listing says agreement execution is in progress.
• The staff report estimates this study/design/environmental phase would finish at the beginning of 2029; the September listing says summer 2029. Neither is a confirmed trail-opening date.

   Council approved the Sunnyvale funding-agreement and professional-services authorizations in File 205835. This advances the feasibility, design and environmental work.
